Heather wins gold at Boddington 2005, and Euro Champion at 50k

She started the race well but was soon in agony as her new England Kit which included cotton twill shorts chaffed her legs with every stride, Heather bravely kept running but had to retire at 80k and promptly taken to Edinburgh hospital to be bandaged up and taken home.

Quote from the UK Athletics Doctor, Dr Noel Pollock, Written 10 days after the event

"On examination today she has an ulcerated erythematous weeping wound on her upper left thigh". The skin on both inner thighs was ulcerated and required several repeat dressings. The left thigh was worse than the right and is still ulcerated today. She has difficulty with sitting and walking".
