My Story

In 2005 I was the reigning
AAA English 50k Road Race Champion, European 50km Champion Palmero Sicily.

Inspiration breeds courage brings forth encouragement.

"Move Forward with strength, optimism n faith "
3 Gold, 2 silver & a Bronze medal , podium 3rd at Spartathon , GB vest 50km, 100km, 24hr & world mountain trail .. 2005 - 2012.

A new chapter in the story of life, it reminded me of a poem I wrote whilst running in Barcelona my first n only 24hr track race, Dec 2011.

"walking through the passages In Life, pondering what beholds Wondering where to go, what decisions to make, How much is perceived perception & how much is me, my spirit within. A Garland of flowers, fragrant sweet a Golden sunray beholds the dawning of a new day". 2014 now I still swim & work, massage, Inuries & rehabilitation, and now a new hobby, making & selling Homemade Belgian chocolates. I have a pedlar's license for my bicycle!!, life is slower now, I still love adventures, and Just returned from an amazing hoilday snorkling n free-diving in the Red sea, swam with Manta ray, nemo & friends n amazingly two Napolian fish bigger than me!

I can't run anymore due to my osteo-arthritis, my lungs are still 111% so I try n swim n snorkle when I can. I hold many precious memories & Motos as each year I tried to Emulate one.. I could "be flexible on stratergy yet Must remain Constant on principle ".. Invinsible.. Heather ..Je ne sais pas, Tu peux le faire, Nous verrons !..

Moto 2012 To overcome.. 2013..To Soar with Gratitude.. 2014 To realize my potential within.. " to walk forth with courage n optimism....to cherish precious memories places I've been and some people I've met..thank you Norman for giving me an opportunity to shine & to Phil for Believing in me.

December 2011 24 Hour Track Race Barcelona

Heather gets gold in the back of an ambulance in the form of a recovery blanket! ....after 18hrs of repetitive running giddy n with a pulse of 32 medics took blood & with drew me from the race..20 mins later ...."you bloody perfect !! " nevertheless i was withdrawn from the race..

At swiss national championships in Basel 24hr after 100miles n giddy n chest pains, disillusioned, dismayed & contemplating giving up I withdrew once more.

2012 Had been a very difficult year , emotionally my divorce had come through , it was nigh impossible to travel away or even run races Joshua being 10yrs needed his mum n Ezekiel my eldest now at university ."No Finish Line Monaco". Was a rare opportunity to go away thanks to some dear friends that had Josh I needed to fulfilll my moto.

Over coming I certainly did, despite perforating my ear drum on the flight over. I kept running to attain the world's best performance 48hr running 2012.

A new British 48 hour Women's runnng record. 196 miles in 45hrs 315.948km. only to stop briefly to eat my smoked salmon , mash potatoes & enjoy a glass of white white whilst admiring the massive firework display to welcome in the new wine ! A new British record and a night in the 5 star metropole hotel in Monte Carlo "thank you " a welcome surprise ! (I had already broken the French 48hr in Antibes in June 2010.) A visit to Monaco hospital to be given the wrong antibotics, a trip to Italy with Dorathrea to get some Erythromycin ..as covered in Hives... then only to run again finishing 4th ranked 10th in the world for 8 days even though I only ran 4.

Running on behalf of the patron saint of Monaco "The Spirit of Devotion " It was an honour, not only did it inspire me but had elevated me back to the top of world Elite ultra Running...a worlds best n a new British 48hr womens record..both above n beyond my expectations of "overcoming !!".

2013...moto.." To soar with Gratitude "with thanks to a very dear friend christian I flew !.....

I now snow shoe !

Whist running as Heather in the European 100km in Belves France April 2013, I sustained severe bruising n nearly fractured my Tibia..

I knew it was time to hang up my trainers !!

16th October 2005
Heather wins European 50k at Palermo

My name is Heather Foundling-Hawker, and here you are going to find out more about what I do as a sports therapist and a runner... In the women's race, Great Britain's Heather Foundling-Hawker, running just her second 50 kilometer race, dominated the event from the start, heading off fast from the gun and retaining a convincing lead throughout the race, relegating the seasoned Italian campaigners Monica Casiraghi, the reigning World Champion over 100 kilometers and Lorena Di Vito to the lesser places on the podium. Despite her novice status, Heather Foundling-Hawker came to Palermo as the fastest of the women contenders with a time of 3:35:51 to her credit, nearly nine minutes faster than Casiraghi with 3:44:37 and Di Vito with 3:47:06. In the end, her gutsy frontrunning left no chance to the two Italians, who had to settle for the lesser medals and also the second and third places in the final standings for the Trophy.
